'Hot Dad Alert!' Jessica Simpson Shares Snap of Husband Eric Johnson Holding Daughter Birdie
Jessica Simpson couldn’t help but swoon over husband Eric Johnson on Wednesday, as he held their newborn daughter, Birdie Mae.
The singer, 38, shared a photo of the sweet moment on Instagram — the picture showing Johnson, 39, wearing a charcoal suit with a white shirt, stripped tie, and dark shades as he held the tiny tot in a car seat carrier (covered with a $3,600 Fendi baby blanket).
“Hot Dad Alert ?,” Simpson captioned the image.
Simpson and Johnson, a former NFL player, have been married since 2014. In addition to Birdie — who was born on March 19 — the pair also share son Ace Knute, 5½, and daughter Maxwell “Maxi” Drew, 7 next month.

Johnson has been on hand to aid Simpson as she continues to heal from her cesarean section. Birdie Mae’s older siblings — whom she praised in an Instagram post on April 1 — have also been a big help.
“Recovering from a C-Section is no joke!” Simpson wrote, captioning a photo of her two eldest children. “I’m feeling thankful for these two older siblings looking over their new baby sister. I think we all get so carried away with the excitement of having a new baby that we forget that we are going in for major surgery. Then on top of that, we get home from the hospital, have to recover from the surgery, balance our new life as a parent to three kids and be a wife.”
A close friend of Simpson recently told PEOPLE that Ace and Maxi “can’t get enough of the baby.”
“Everyone is very happy,” the source said — adding that Maxwell is “so in love with her little sister,” as is big brother Ace.
Meanwhile, despite woes from severe acid reflux and extreme foot swelling to sciatica and several bouts with bronchitis during her pregnancy, Simpson still remained active in her older kids’ lives while awaiting Birdie’s arrival.
“Jessica loves being a mom and having a big family,” said another source. “Even while struggling during her pregnancy, she volunteered at her kids’ school. Her life is very focused on her family and making it fun for the kids.”
In the days since giving birth to baby Birdie, who arrived at a whopping 10 lbs. 13 oz., Simpson’s friend told PEOPLE the former Dukes of Hazzard star had been “feeling good.”
“The baby is doing really well,” added the pal. “Birdie is perfect, and Jessica is savoring every minute. … They are just soaking it all in.”
